Introduction to Blender Interface

If you are starting your 3D animation journey, Blender is one of the most powerful and free tools available. At first glance, the interface may look complex, but once you understand its layout, everything becomes much easier.

Main Areas of Blender

  • 3D Viewport – Where you create and interact with objects.
  • Outliner – Shows all objects present in the scene.
  • Properties Panel – Used to modify objects, materials, lighting and rendering.
  • Timeline – Used for animation and keyframe control.

Viewport Navigation

Students should practice these basic controls:

  • Middle Mouse Button – Rotate view
  • Shift + Middle Mouse – Pan view
  • Scroll Wheel – Zoom
  • Numpad 1,3,7 – Front, Side, Top views

Student Tip

Do not try to learn everything at once. Spend some time navigating the viewport and moving objects around. Once navigation becomes natural, the rest of Blender becomes much easier to understand.
